There’s a lot that’s demanding your attention in your life, and that might mean that you don’t always think about every single service your car needs. Keeton Auto Repair definitely understands, but also wants you to consider whether your car might need one of these services that are done less often than an oil change.
Coolant Flush and Fill
Topping up coolant is one thing, and it’s very important for you to do periodically when you notice that the coolant levels are dipping a bit. But there’s a lot of gunk that floats around the cooling system, too, especially if you haven’t had your cooling system flushed and refilled in a long time. Taking the time to remove old coolant, clean out the cooling system, and start fresh with entirely new coolant makes a big difference for your car.
Transmission Fluid Change
Eventually your car’s transmission fluid needs to be completely swapped out, too. If you check the owner’s manual, you’ll see how often the manufacturer recommends you have this service done. Most car owners don’t think about the transmission fluid until something changes in how the transmission works, though, which may be a bit later than your transmission would prefer.
Battery Replacement
How old is your car’s battery? If you’re not sure, there are a few ways you might be able to figure that out, like looking at the battery itself to see if there’s a date sticker anywhere. One thing to think about with your battery is whether you’ve replaced it at all. If you have, how long ago did you do so? Anything longer than about three or four years may mean your battery should get tested and possibly replaced.
Brake Line Inspection
How about your car’s brake fluid? Never once thought about it? You’re not alone. It’s a good idea to periodically get your brake lines inspected. You’re looking for leaks and other possible signs of trouble. Also, much like coolant and transmission fluid, sometimes it’s just a good idea to remove all the old brake fluid and start again with a fresh batch through the entire brake system.
