When you travel by car, the last thing you want is for your vehicle to fail. If you let us inspect your vehicle before you leave for your trip, we can prevent it from happening. To schedule an appointment, call our shop before you depart for your trip.
Battery Check
To make sure everything is fine, we’ll first check the battery. You run the risk of your battery dying while traveling if it is older than three years. We recommend that you have the battery replaced before you depart for your trip if the battery is old and unable to hold a charge.
Brake Check
Because you depend on your brake system all the time, we will inspect it, as well. We won’t do any work if the brake system is in good condition. We will replace the brake pads if there is less than 1/4 inch of brake pad surface. We also inspect the brake fluid.
Diagnostic Check
Before we can run a diagnostic test on your vehicle, we will ask for your consent. However, this service is highly recommended to find out if anything is going on behind the scenes. The diagnostic test generates error codes which are sent to the main computer chip via the system sensors.
Fluid Check
Before you set out on your road trip, it is a good idea to do a fluid check. Make sure all fluids are topped off and kept clean. We will also check the belts and hoses to make sure nothing is frayed or has a hole in it. You’d be surprised how much trouble a broken belt or leaking hose can cause.
Oil Change
Also, we recommend that you have your oil changed before you go on your road trip. Although the service might not be required, clean oil and an oil filter can improve fuel efficiency while traveling. This will also prevent you from having to change your oil if you travel long distances.
Tire Check
A tire inspection is another service we offer during our pre-trip inspection. To make sure that the tires are in good condition, we will inspect them. We will check the air pressure and adjust it if needed. To ensure that the spare is in top condition, we will also inspect it.
